History

In 1979, inflation was 11%. The price of gold doubled. And the Dow Jones rose just 33 points for the year. It was into this uncertain economic environment that Harlan Cadinha launched Cadinha & Co.

Since then, Cadinha & Co. has grown into one of Hawaii’s largest investment advisory firms, managing over $800 million in assets.

What made Cadinha & Co. unique from the beginning was a focus on understanding economics and macro-economic trends — how changes in economic variables can affect asset prices. This focus gave rise to a proactive, forward-looking approach to investing, and a realization that asset allocation is what truly determines a portfolio’s performance and risk.

This remains the foundation of Cadinha & Co. today.
